– Who here has received messages saying their Facebook page is about to be shut down due to violating community guidelines?
– Who here has been given a tight 24-48 hours to act?
– Who here has felt scared and confused, not knowing why this happened?
– Who here has needed urgent help to figure out what to do?
Take a deep breath—I’m here to tell you to relax! 🧘🏻
The good news is, it’s all a scam. These messages are fake, spam, and bots—nothing to fear.
I regularly see client accounts from various European countries, including New Zealand. Let me tell you one thing: each country has its own unique set of fake messages, often written in the local language and sometimes with profile images and names that make it look like an official communication from Meta. But rest assured, it is not!
There are bots and fake accounts out there that look very real.
They send us messages designed to make us worry about losing our Facebook page. But if we read these messages carefully, we can spot the signs that reveal them as fakes.
Examples:
- Sentences Written With Capitalised Words (Meta doesn’t write like that; it’s NOT an ad).
- Suspicious links (often shortened or with random URLs—Meta does not send “links to click”).
- Receive a message at all (Meta usually takes action directly, e.g., blocks a page if policies are violated rather than sending warnings. If they send a message, it will be in your email inbox).
I’ve attached some photos in the comments below to show what a REAL Meta support chat looks like.
How to stop getting spammed uncontrollably on Facebook?
Next time you receive a message like explained above that frightens you, do this:
- If you have lots of time, report+delete it.
- If you have less time, delete it.
- If you do not have time, ignore it completely.
When one reports these incoming messages, Facebook can become aware of the problem. And by spending more time blocking them, one can also remove them from one’s comments and inbox.
If this applies to your case, limit the countries from which your page is visible. Learn more about this in the link here. Do these, and you will notice that fewer spam messages will get through than before.
In a nutshell, these messages are just a waste of our time.
So relax, go grab a coffee, and get back to work!
