Marketing Tips

How to get reviews from customers

Your goal is to ask and get your customers to leave you a review. However, your customers seem to have no time to do that or cannot be bothered to make the effort to write one. But, what if you create something specific that will save you and your customers a tremendous amount of time? How?

By creating a page on your website with specific information that has the sole purpose of helping you make your customer’s life easier when you are asking for their reviews.

In bullet points:

  • You create a separate page on your website and name the URL /reviews.
  • You have a short copy on this site that talks to customers as you would in the “reviews request email”.
  • You include all the direct links.
  • And you also give them ideas about what to write.

I will explain it all in detail and show you an example also in the following post below. Follow these four points:

1. Create a separate page:

Example: yourdomain. co. nz/review

This URL is for you to use. There is no need to include it in your header menu. Just have it in the “background”.

What to include on this page?

2. Write a short copy:

Write it in a way that you would ask someone for a review. Also, explain why you would appreciate their feedback. (Because of this reason below.)

Reviews are one of the essential parts of local marketing and SEO.

Explain it on this page; their feedback would help you grow with your marketing. Also, it would help your business improve based on their feedback.

3. Include direct links:

Where are your reviews? In other words, where would you like your customers to leave a review: Google Business? Facebook? OTAs? Tripadvisor?

(OTA meaning: Online Travel Agency e.g., Bookingdotcom, AirBnb, Trivago, and so on)

Include all direct links for your business you want to push at that particular time. Perhaps not more than two links at a time.

4. Write ideas for them and give suggestions on what to write about:

What business are you in?

What products/services are you providing for your customers?

You want to dig in deep to ensure their feedback will be thorough, and ask questions like:

  • How reliable was my [product/service]?
  • How was the [product/service] that I [action] helpful?
  • What made you buy my [product/service]?
  • What has changed in your life with my [product/service]?
  • What problems did you face before, and how did my [product/service] change that?
  • What did my [product/service] add to your [life/business]?
  • or anything that they have found helpful about your [product/services], you can ask them to write down in a review.

Create your questions. Select a few, not too many. And put those questions into action on your “reviews page”. Be short and get straight to the point.

Now!

Imagine having this page ready to “fire” when needed. This page will save you time because all you need to do from now on is to send this review URL link to anyone you want to ask for feedback.

The customer receives this link, and they do not have to think. You explained everything and gave them ideas. All they needed to do was click the link and type in a few sentences. Boom! Saving them time is the most important!!

Be clear, do not make customers think. They leave otherwise.

The rule of thumb for asking reviews

When you want to get your customers’ feedback next time, to raise your odds of getting a review, ideally, you have to ask for it at the point of their greatest satisfaction—usually right after the experience.

We have to ask for reviews at the peak of satisfaction.
